The Legend...
Many years ago, Buddha called on all of the animals for a meeting of which the first 12 arriving would be appointed as signs of a year respectively. The night prior to the meeting, cat and rat agreed that whomever waking up first the following morning would wake up the other so that both of them could head to the meeting together. Rat, however, did not keep his promise and left for the meeting alone. Later, one after another arrived ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. As cat woke up and rushed to the meeting it was all over. It is also said that this is why cats kill rats.
