STDs can be painful, irritating, and life threatening. Those who are sexually active and have multiple sex partners are more likely to contract sexually transmitted diseases. Many STDs do not have visible symptoms and some do. Some of the symptoms include:
--> Pain during sex, when urinating and/or in the pelvic area. --> For men: discharge from penis. --> For women: itching around the vagina and/or discharge from the vagina. --> Scaly rash on the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. --> Swollen glands, fever, body aches. --> Unusual infections, unexplained fatigue, night sweats, weight loss.
The only one sure way to prevent STD is by not having sex. If you do engage in sexual activities, there are certain ways to lower the risk of contracting STD:
1. Use condoms when having sex. 2. Limit the number of sex partners. 3. Ask your partner if he/she has STD. Discuss whether you two have been tested for STD and whether you should get tests done.
